Joel S. Newman, MD, Chairman of the Department of Radiology, has been on the staff at the Baptist since 1997. A native of Chicago, he attended Northwestern University Medical School, interned at the Faulkner Hospital and completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center. Dr Newman then went to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he completed consecutive fellowships in body imaging/breast imaging and musculoskeletal radiology. He then served on the faculty at Michigan for three years, specializing in musculoskeletal imaging, before returning to Boston. Dr Newman interprets musculoskeletal imaging studies including MRI as well as body imaging and nuclear medicine studies. He has considerable expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound, including rotator cuff imaging. Dr. Newman is an Associate Clinical Professor of Radiology at Tufts University School of Medicine. His research interests include MRI and Ultrasound applications in bone and joint diseases and has many peer-reviewed publications and abstracts. Dr. Newman is a member of the International Skeletal Society and the Society of Skeletal Radiology. He is a consultant in imaging to the Boston Celtics.

James R. Hill, MD, has been at the New England Baptist Hospital since 1996. Dr. Hill grew up in Washington, DC, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and attended Tufts University School of Medicine graduating with AOA honors. Dr. Hill interned at the Faulkner Hospital and completed his radiology residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. He completed a two year Neuroradiology fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He is American Board of Radiology certified, a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiologists and has passed the Certificate of Added Qualifications examination in Neuroradiology. Dr Hill has a special interest in spine imaging and intervention and pain management. He performs lumbar and cervical facet blocks, nerve blocks and  lumbar discography.

Damon J. Spitz, MD

Damon Spitz, MD joined the staff at the Baptist in 2000. Dr. Spitz grew up in New York and attended Tufts University. He graduated from the SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse receiving AOA honors. He interned at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY and then completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center at Harvard Medical School. He completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the combined New England Baptist Hospital / Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center joint program. He is a member of the Society of Skeletal Radiology, Radiologic Society of North America, and American Roentgen Ray Society. Dr. Spitz's interests include musculoskeletal imaging and teaching. He is an imaging consultant to Boston College Sports Medicine and the Boston Celtics.

Lindsey C. Kiser, MD has been at the Baptist since 1981. A Navy junior, she grew up in many locales on the east and west coast. She attended Chatham College in Pittsburgh and New York University. Dr Kiser is a graduate of Boston University School of Medicine and interned and did a junior medical residency at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton. She completed her radiology residency at New England Medical Center followed by a fellowship in computed tomography and ultrasound at the Boston Veterans Administration Hospital in Jamaica Plain. Dr Kiser is Chief of Body Imaging at the New England Baptist Hospital.

Harvey L. Levine, MD has been a member of the Baptist staff since 1981. He is a lifelong resident of Massachusetts. He attended the University of Vermont School of Medicine. After serving two years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict, he completed his Radiology residency at the New England Medical Center. He successfully completed a Neuroradiology fellowship at Boston City Hospital. He has spent his career practicing Neuroradiology and has published articles and written book chapters. He has taught many residents and in the past ran a fellowship program. He is Associate Professor of Radiology at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr Levine is a member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, the Radiological Society of North America and the American College of Radiology.

Arthur H. Newberg, MD, FACR has been at the New England Baptist since 1981. Dr Newberg grew up in New York and attended New York Medical College, interned at the Mayo Clinic and did his residency at the University of Vermont after serving two years in the Public Health Service. He completed a musculoskeletal radiology fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital and is currently Chief of Musculoskeletal Imaging at the Baptist as well as Professor of Radiology and Orthopaedics at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr Newberg has a special interest in arthrography, joint injections, sports medicine and joint replacements. He is a recognized national authority, publishes articles and speaks at national meetings. He is a member of many national organizations including the International Skeletal Society, the Society of Skeletal Radiology and the Radiology Society of North America. He is a consultant in imaging to Boston College Sports Medicine.

Owen D. Maddox, MD

Owen Maddox, MD joined the Baptist in 2001. Dr. Maddox grew up in Kansas, received an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Wichita State Universtiy, and his Medical Degree from Kansas Univesrity. Dr. Maddox completed his residency at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita and then entered private practice in the Kansas City area for nine years. He then pursued further specialized training and complete a fellowship in Vascular/ Interventional Radiology at Boston Medical Center in 2000. He performs invasive vascular and neuroradiology procedures.

Mihran A. Artinian, MD

Mihran Artinian, MD joined the Baptist in 2004. Dr. Artinian received his undergraduate and medical degree from the American University of Beirut, and completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the American University Hospital in Beirut. He has completed two fellowships in Radiology. One year in Abdominal Imaging at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, followed by a two-year Neuroradiology fellowship at the Boston University Medical Center. He then served on the faculty of the West Roxbury Veterans Administration Hospital as Chief Neuroradiologist for ten years and as Associate Chief of Radiology for three years. He is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology and holds the Certificate of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology. He is a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, and a member of the American Roentgen Ray Society and Radiologic Society of North America. His interests include spine imaging and image guided intervention for pain management.

 Tal Rencus, MD

Tal Rencus, MD joined the Baptist in July 2006. Dr Rencus received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York and his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. He interned at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, Connecticut and completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Tufts-New England Medical Center followed by a Neuroradiology fellowship at the Tufts-NEMC / Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital joint program. He is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology and holds the Certificate of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology from the American Board of Radiology. He is an Asisstant Clinical Professor of Radiology at Tufts Medical School and is active in teaching radiology residents and fellows. He performs lumbar and cervical facet blocks, nerve root blocks, myelography and lumbar discography. Dr. Rencus is a member of the New England Roentgen Ray Society.
